Wanting to escape the gossip, she left the capital for her late grandmother’s mansion in the northern borderlands. But upon arrival, she discovered Norbert, a knight in service to the border count, already living there, the mansion had been given to him. Norbert welcomed her without complaint and offered to move her into the servants’ annex, which she refused, and he insisted she shouldn’t have to stay there as the granddaughter of his benefactor. Since Elena loved cooking, she began preparing meals for the two of them. Norbert admired her red hair, often mocked by others as “the color of warm blessings," and genuinely enjoyed her cooking, unlike her ex-fiancé. His sincerity warmed her heart.
